got Spam Musubi yet ? Spam musubi is very popular item in Hawaii, even President Barack Obama was seen eating it while vacationing last year there. Wanna know how to make it? Here is an instruction for you. It's very easy & simple and you gonna love it !!!
Spam Musubi 4-6 servings
250 ml (1 cup) sushi rice
325 ml (1 1/3 cups) water
50 ml ( 1/4 cup) rice vinegar
30 ml (2 tbsp) canola oil
1 can Spam
1 sheet nori seaweed (sushi wrapper)
teriyaki sauce
In a mesh strainer, rinse rice under cold water. Place strainer over a bowl and let rice drain for several minutes.
In a small saucepan, combine rice and water. Bring to a boil over medium-high, then cover and reduce heat to simmer. Cook for 14 minutes.
Remove pan from heat and uncover. Drape a kitchen towel over pan, then replace cover. Let it sit for 20 minutes. Transfer rice to a baking dish and sprinkle with vinegar.
Use a wooden spoon to toss rice with vinegar until well mixed. Cover rice with plastic wrap and set aside.
In a large skillet over medium-high, heat oil. Add Spam and lightly brown on both sides, 1 to 2 minutes per side. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.
Use your hands to form rice into rectangles 2.5 cm by 5 cm (1 inch by 2 inches) about 2.5 cm (1 inch) thick. Top each with a piece of Spam.
Place each piece of sushi on top of 1 strip of nori and wrap the ends of the nori up over the middle of the Spam. Use a finger dunked in water to dampen the ends of the nori and stick together.
Drizzle each piece with a bit of teriyaki sauce.
